Kids
Unlimited is a non-profit organization formed to benefit
children stricken with cancer. Founded in 1994, the Kids Unlimited
Foundation was created by volunteers with backgrounds in working
with children who have been diagnosed with life-threatening
conditions.
We provide an escape
Our foundation focuses on providing family-oriented activities
that allow these kids to experience a fun outing in an atmosphere
of friends where their illness can be forgotten, at least
for a while. These events include the whole family, the siblings
and parents, because cancer affects the entire family. This
allows everyone to have a family experience beyond the shadow
of cancer and gives the parents a much needed respite.
We have created a comprehensive web of support for the family
through friendship and information. From our mutual experiences,
we have developed contacts to a network of doctors and medical
centers. Our foundation is in touch with other non-profit
groups who may assist in particular instances. We can connect
to the many resources available to aid families in dealing
with the emotional, spiritual and financial demands associated
with this illness.
Everyone can be a part of our family
We
are an all-volunteer organization with no paid members or
staff. All of the funds raised or contributed go directly
into creating activities and services. These are provided
to the families at no cost to them when they join. We welcome
volunteers to help with our many outings. We are in constant
need of individual and corporate support to insure the success
of events. As the number of newly diagnosed children rises
and the number of our member-families increases, the need
for additional funding and support increases. We are the only
group of this kind in Houston and the surrounding areas which
consistently provides activities for kids with cancer and
that includes the entire family.
