Having a central home for our Kids Unlimited family has long been a dream of the foundation.

We need a location that is within reasonable reach of Houston’s Medical Center. We hope that, eventually, we can have a home where families of cancer children would be able to stay while their child is undergoing treatment. We dream of a location where we can hold most of our foundation events rather than in the multiple places as we do now. We also hope to be able to have enough land for future growth.

Kids Ranch

We feel very fortunate to have found a location that fits ALL of our needs! It is located south of Houston along Highway 288. This is a very direct route to the Medical Center. Also, the Center is developing along this southern track so that future plans will put us even closer as the Medical facilities expand.

The 12.5 acre location offers many fine features that suit our present and future needs. On the property is a 3/4 acre pond that is perfect for our many fishing tournaments. It is a true joy to see the face of a child who feels the sense of accomplishment in catching a fish! Also, on site is a large farm house which is in excellent condition. This structure can serve us well as an office and foundation on which to build our dream facility. The yard has many large, old shade trees which are perfect to picnic under. An out building/barn can serve as a central storage place for all the organization’s materials such as tables, chairs, trailer, supplies, banners and signs that now are being personally stored by the board members. Eventually, when we can acquire a foundation van, we can park it under the generous carport. The lot is large enough to handle all of our event parking needs. Also, future growth could see a softball field, an addition to the house that will allow for large indoor banquets, an open, covered pavilion for outdoor food service and even future building to accommodate short-term stay for families. One day, we may even have a swimming pool for the children.

Please study the map and photos to see how well the property is situated in an area that has plans for much development of roads and facilities. Help us celebrate the future headquarters for the Kids Unlimited Foundation. This property is scheduled to be ready for hosting our events beginning in January 2001.

This dream comes with a price tag. We must raise $330,000.00 for the purchase of the property (see our fundraiser "thermometer" to chart our progress.) If you are part of a company that would like to contribute toward our dream, please contact us and we will give you all the information on the Kids Unlimited Foundation and our "Kids Ranch" that you might need to base your decision upon. If you work for a company that has a community relations group that donations to causes like ours, please contact us and we would be glad to put together an information package just for them. We sincerely need sponsors help in making this chance-in-a-lifetime become a reality.

We are extremely proud that our kids’ family has grown up so much and that this big step in our growth is becoming a reality. Directions

Destination: 1530 Fruge Road, Houston, TX 77047

 

  1. From Houston, take 288 south to beltway 8.

  2. At beltway 8, exit onto the access rode heading west and stay to the right on the feeder. You will go a couple of miles and then u-turn under beltway 8, before the railroad tracks, heading back (east) toward 288.

  3. Before reaching 288, you will turn right onto Hooper Road (south.) Stay on Hooper Road about a mile until you come to Fruge Road.

  4. Take a left onto Fruge Road and go about 4/10ths of a mile and the property is on the right. It is a two-story yellow house with a pond in front. Drive through the gate and up the long drive to the house.

  5. Parking will be in front of the house or along the drive.
